Commonwealth Heritage Group, Inc. (Commonwealth) is seeking approximately 6 Archeological Field Assistants for a Phase IB survey and potential Phase II investigations on historic and prehistoric sites in the Buzzard Point section of the District of Columbia, currently anticipated to start sometime in October. The project is on a HAZMAT site, and the Phase IB is anticipated to last approximately 2 weeks. If necessary, the Phase II could last up to 4 weeks. There is a medium to high probability of preserved archaeology in the natural sediments below the contaminated fill. The pay rate is $18.00 per hour to those who have already completed 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training and are current on their 8-hour refresher. If only the refresher is required, the pay rate is $17.00 per hour. For personnel without training, the pay rate is $15.50 per hour. Preference will be given to personnel in possession of current certification; however, the cost of training (but not time) will be provided by Commonwealth, if necessary. All positions include single-occupancy hotel room and a $35.00-per-day meal per diem provided for non-local (more than 15 miles from job site) employees. This project may also require a pre- and post-project physical examination, which will be scheduled and paid for by Commonwealth.
