Our Pasadena office is seeking an Archaeological Monitor for work in Southern California in or around Orange County. The project work will be taking place in San Clemente and San Juan Hills. The project work will run through the end of this year.
The work schedule can vary; sometimes up to 40 hours a week but at othertimes on a part-time schedule. When project travel is required, per diem, hotel room accommodations, and field vehicles are provided. Project travel time is paid.
What you will accomplish:
Conduct archaeological fieldwork including monitoring, survey, testing, and data recovery. Assist with mapping responsibilities in the field, including collection of GPS data using Trimble units.
Job Requirements
Experience and qualifications for success:
A Bachelor’s Degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field or six (6) months field experience with a range of field methodologies, including survey, testing, excavation, and monitoring required
Participation in an accredited field school or equivalent experience
Six (6) months experience working as a field archaeologist in California or adjacent desert regions, including the Great Basin required
Experience with the application of standard archaeological field and laboratory techniques
Knowledge of ArcPad or TerraSync is a plus
Ability to travel to a location, walk and conduct fieldwork for long hours, sometimes in inclement weather, rugged terrain, often at high altitudes, and ability to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds is required
