Description
We are seeking an archaeologist specialising in finds analysis to join Historic England`s multi-disciplinary team of archaeologists, archaeological scientists and archaeological archive and data management experts. Based at Fort Cumberland, Southsea, you`ll experience a vibrant research environment, within the finest 18th century bastion trace fort in England and work on material from some of the country`s most important and iconic sites.
You will have responsibility for co-ordinating and overseeing all aspects of finds work, including site visits and providing advice, liaising with internal and external specialists in the delivery of assessments and analyses to time and agreed standards, and the use and development of your artefact class or period specialism in the production of high quality reports for publication. You will review and comment on a wide range of project documentation and contribute to the further development of our digital recording, assessment, analysis and archive methodology, based on the use of the Swedish Intrasis database.
With extensive experience of archaeological artefact assessment and analysis and related professional standards and guidance, you will have a high-standard academic and/or professional qualification in archaeology or a related subject, a specialism in one or more areas of artefact analysis, demonstrable experience in producing specialist finds reports for publication, experience of working with digitally collected archaeological data, and a general appreciation of the range of approaches to investigating the historic environment, including heritage science.
As an enthusiastic, self-motivated and proven team player, you`ll possess excellent interpersonal and organisational skills with ability to work with conflicting priorities and agendas and to tight timetables.
