[ShovelBums.Org] AECOM Cincinnati Hiring Field Technicians for Upcoming Field Season
AECOM Cincinnati, OH office is looking for an Archaeological Field Technician for the upcoming season involving Phase I, Phase II or Phase III archaeological field work in the Mid and Eastern United States. Technicians will work under the guidance of a Senior Archaeologist and/or Anthropologist. Lodging (single occupancy) and per diem is provided. This is a Part-Time Variable position, meaning work days and times will be determined on an as-needed basis.
Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to: Conducts archaeological investigations/excavations, Performs basic analysis of artifacts, Performs various reporting functions
Will conduct archaeological investigations/ excavations; screen soil deposits; take accurate field notes; draw accurate profiles and plan views; record archaeological field data; use digital camera; process artifacts (wash, mark and catalog) and perform basic analysis of artifacts
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience
Extensive knowledge and understanding of equipment and technology used to perform recording of artifacts and archaeological surveys
Knowledge of basic field excavation techniques, ability to process (wash, catalog and mark) recovered archaeological artifacts, and properly fill out field and laboratory forms
Willingness to travel
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology or related field and Archaeological field school with one Archaeological field project
1 + year of experience in archaeological fieldwork and analysis or equivalent
