A Master’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field is required.

·        
A minimum of 5 years of experience in the field and technical report production; showing continuous advancement in archaeological knowledge, skills, abilities,

and responsibilities,
including at least one year of supervisory experience and experience in managing cultural resource projects.

·        
Completion of an archaeological field school.

·        
Current RPA registration, CPR/BBP/First-Aid training, and OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training a plus.

·        
Requirements: (1) Mid-Atlantic field experience, with preference given to those candidates with experience identifying and evaluating Eastern Woodland regional prehistoric and/or historic period archaeological resources;
(2) experience working on state Department of Transportation (DOT) projects and US military installations across the U.S. is preferred; (3) excellent writing, communication, and mentoring skills; (4) provide strong focus and high quality customer service;
(5) conduct work in inclement weather and through rugged terrain; (6) ability to
reconstruct cultures of the past through the archaeological record; (7) extensive knowledge of archaeological inventory, testing, and excavation techniques; (8) ability to successfully plan, conduct, and manage Phase I inventory, Phase II evaluation,
and Phase III data recovery efforts; (9) actively assist in the manual excavation of shovel tests and test units; (10) process and analyze pre-contact and historic period artifacts; (11) conduct archaeological research and analysis; (12) prepare technical
reports of methodology, findings, and recommendations; (13) logistically plan and implement field projects; (14) keep and maintain records of work conducted; (15) direct field crews and advise archaeological crews in applicable archaeological methodology;
and (16) ability to work with technical field, office staff, managers, and administrative staff to ensure that projects meet quality standards.

Knowledge and skills: (1) National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) regulations and standards as well as regional and state SHPO standards and guidelines; (2) strong competency in general MS Office applications, including
Word and Excel; (3) GPS, GIS (Trimble, ArcGIS 10), MS Project, and Access database skills or knowledge a plus; (4) demonstrated experience in identification and recordation of historic and prehistoric archaeological sites; (5) in-depth knowledge of soils,
particularly in deep alluvial settings; (6) proficient with site, excavation, plan and profile maps; (7) experienced in organizing and maintaining data, and completing archaeological site forms; (8) capacity to handle complex tasks under pressure and under
stringent time constraint; (9) demonstrated ability to exercise professional judgment and discretion; (10) demonstrated ability and adaptability to deal with ambiguity such as unexpected changes in weather, client demands, and project priorities and schedules;
(11) excellent written and oral communication skills, with prior experience writing technical reports and providing QA/QC review of field documents, site forms, etc.; (12) organized, detail oriented, and responsive nature; (13) effectively communicate with
staff, supervisors, teaming partners, and clients.

The successful candidate will interface directly with staff, clients, stakeholders, team members, and subcontractors. A high-degree of professionalism
and competence in project execution and delivery is essential for success. Project-related travel is required.
