Archaeological Laboratory Director

Gray & Pape, Inc., has a position open for an Archaeological
Laboratory Director in their Cincinnati, Ohio, office. A B.A. in
Archaeology, Anthropology or related field is required, along with two
years of laboratory experience and a minimum of two additional years of
laboratory supervisory experience. Experience in the Midwest is
preferred.
The Laboratory Director will be responsible for overseeing and managing
all operations of the laboratory, including the processing, cataloging,
analysis, reporting, and curation of artifacts; supervising laboratory
personnel; managing and developing appropriate database applications;
and
managing the collaboration between lab facilities and personnel in the
Cincinnati and Richmond, VA, offices.

This person must be able to demonstrate ability to work
effectively within constraints of project schedules and budgets.
Essential
duties will include conducting and/or scheduling the catalog and
inventory
of artifacts, historic and prehistoric; conducting or managing the
analysis of artifacts; writing the results of the analysis for inclusion

in project reports; supervising all personnel assigned to laboratory
duties; and integrating laboratory responsibilities into project
schedules
and products.

Supervisory skills, communication skills, and an ability to
effectively work in a project team are a must. Sophisticated database
and
word processing computer skills are essential. Material culture
analysis
and interpretation skills are also required. Other skills that will be
given serious consideration include floral/faunal analyzes, GIS, and
conservation of material culture.
