POSITION OPEN
PennDOT ARCHAEOLOGIST

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has an opening
for
an archaeologist to join its recently expanded cultural resource
program.
This position, to be based at District 1-0's office in historic Oil
City,
and will manage the archaeology for the Greater Pittsburgh Region
(Districts 1-0 and 11-0 in northwestern Pennsylvania). As part of a
cultural resource team (archaeologist and architectural historian), the
selected candidate will shape the direction of cultural resource
investigations conducted in this region as part of the Department's $1.5

billion annual design and construction program.

All candidates must meet the professional qualification standards for
Archaeology as defined in the Secretary of Interior Standards. This is
a
non-Civil Service position, but will be covered under the state union
contract, and comes with full benefits. The salary range begins at
$33,858. There is no closing date, and PennDOT will continue to
interview
until the position is filled.
