Why Not Be the State Archeologist of Kansas?

You could be a leader in collecting, interpreting, and educating others
about the exciting and
evolving story of Plains archeology in Kansas. The Kansas State
Historical Society is looking for
an ambitious State Archeologist to build a program of significance and
reputation for the state's
archeological heritage. The position holds great research and
educational opportunities for the
right person. The State Archeologist has visibility and a position of
responsibility which can
advance archeology within the state, region, and nation. Required – a
graduate degree in
archeology (preferred – Ph.D.with experience in Great Plains
archeology).

Salary $31,595.20 – $44,470.40; excellent state benefits.

Senior Archaeologist / Principal Investigator

PAL, an independent, non-profit cultural
resource management and historic
preservation planning consulting firm, seeks
a highly skilled and
experienced Senior Archaeologist to join its
senior management team.

The Senior Archaeologist reports to the
President and works with a team of
senior staff on a variety of projects.
Qualified applicants will have a
graduate degree in archaeology or anthropology,
and at least 5 years of
experience in the field of cultural
resources management.

Successful applicants will have:

– a solid understanding of Federal laws,
especially Sections 106 and
110, as they pertain to archaeology and
cultural resources
management;

– an ability to manage multiple projects
simultaneously;

– experience in the preparation of
project proposals and
qualifications packages;

– superior verbal and written communication
skills, and strong
computer literacy;

– an established track record of
successful research in the
archaeology of the northeastern United
States; and

– strong analytical skills.
