ASC Group, Inc. has an opening for Field Supervisor – Architectural
Historian / Historian / Landscape Historian at our Columbus, Ohio
office. Responsibilities include the supervision of field activities
including
but not limited to execution of the work plan, assignment of crew tasks,
review of work in progress, assisting with the analysis and
interpretation of
structures or historical landscapes documented, responsible for report
preparation.
Ideal candidate will have a Master's or Bachelor's degree in
Architectural History, Landscape Architecture, or closely related field,
plus at least
two years of full time professional experience in architectural history,
landscape history, or cultural resource management, and at least six
months of architectural field experience in an assistant supervisory
role.
Excellent field, analytical, communication, and report writing skills
are mandatory.

PLANO, TEXAS PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR (Cultural Resources Manager
-Archaeologist) with extensive writing and management experience needed
in company
headquarters to direct compliance projects for both federal and
commercial
clients. Archaeological expertise, primarily related to the prehistoric
period within the lower Mississippi River valley is required, for
position
involves intensive interaction with USACE, Vicksburg District. Prior
experience as a cultural resources manager and experience with NEPA
documentation is a plus. Demonstrated experience in directing the
production of quality reports, managing multiple projects, managing
personnel, and budgeting is essential. This is an opportunity for the
right candidate to develop new areas of service for the Cultural
Resources
Division. Candidates must have an M.A. degree in Anthropology, or a
closely related field, 10 years of work experience, and three years of
experience as a Principal Investigator. Compensation package will be
commensurate with experience.

The Summer 2000 University of Iowa American Indian and Native Studies
Program/Department of Anthropology field school will focus on the
archaeology of the Fort Atkinson, Iowa area with emphasis on excavation
at two Winnebago Indian village sites and a nearby trading post.
The 1840 establishment of the Fort Atkinson military post and forced
relocation of the Winnebago from Wisconsin to the Neutral Ground
(Winnebago Subagency) created a short-lived but complex cultural
landscape that
witnessed varied interactions between various native groups including
Winnebago, Meskwaki, and Sioux; these native groups and U.S. Military
and Subagency personnel; and subsequent post-military occupations of the
Fort Atkinson area.
As with our highly successful 1999 field school, the goal of the Summer
2000 field school is to train participants to conduct high-quality field
archaeology that specifically integrates issues of concern for local and
regional native peoples, descendant populations, and living communities.
In addition to training in field archaeology methods, participants will
interact with Indians and be involved in conducting historical archival
research in support of the archaeological investigations.
