Michael Baker Jr., Inc. (Baker) has an immediate opening for a full-time
historian. The Baker office in West Virginia is a private engineering,
planning and cultural resource consulting firm headquartered 10 miles
west of Charleston.
The position entails contributing and potentially managing aspects of
Baker's cultural resource projects. Applicants should possess a
demonstrated ability and desire to conduct site-specific historic
research, context evaluations on different scales (e.g., anything from
singular properties to regional corridor studies), and to produce clear,
readable narrative. Applicants asked for interviews will be expected to
submit writing samples. Applicants should have an MA in public history,
art history, architectural history, American studies, historic
preservation, anthropology, folklore, or a related field. Applicants
should also have additional relevant experience in historical research
and working knowledge of the Section 106 process. Salary is commensurate
with experience. Full benefits package is included (401k, dental,
vision, and medical).
