POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

LABORATORY MANAGER

SWCA's Salt Lake City office is now accepting applications for
the
position of Laboratory Manager.

The Laboratory Manager will work under the direct supervision of the
Principal Investigator. The position will minimally entail the
cataloging and processing of prehistoric and historic artifacts for
analysis and curation, preparation of samples for out-of-house
analyses (e.g. pollen, charcoal, etc.), processing data of analyzed
and coded artifacts into database for later inclusion in technical
reports, organization and maintenance of the laboratory and storage
facility, and assistance with report production procedures. The
Laboratory Manager will also serve to as a coordinator for the
checking in and out of equipment and for overseeing that this
equipment is in good working condition and meets safety criteria.

The ideal Laboratory Manager candidate will possess the following
qualities:

Completion of extensive university/college course work in
archaeology, anthropology, or a related field

A combination of previous laboratory work and computer databases and
word processing equaling 2 years of experience

Ability to accurately record and maintain data

Ability to work under direct supervision and as a member of a team in
order to accomplish project goals

Organizational skills and computer experience

Ability to prioritize workloads and work within specific time frames

Ability to carry equipment and/or supplies weighing up to 40 pounds

Ability to take initiative, resolve problems, and create improved
procedures to assure tasks are completed in the most effective manner

Flexibility and willingness to learn company procedures and the
ability to try new and improved techniques

Ability to work as a member of a team and individually to make
decisions and complete tasks in the most effective manner

Desire to excel and have pride in work well done

The work will be conducted in an office and laboratory setting. Work
hours are usually between 8:00a.m. and 5:00p.m., Monday through
Friday, although other hours may be necessary when a particular
project demands additional work. The employee may work alone or with
other staff and supervisors.

This position is regular, full-time and will average 40 hours a week
or more. Wages will be commensurate with education and experience.
Overtime wages are paid for more than 40 hours worked in a week. SWCA
