Archeologist Position Open
POSITION NO. CAM/CR/MGR/7/3/00
Position available with the Center for Ecological Management of Military
Lands to be assigned at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, to provide support for
the Cultural Resources Management Program. Position contingent upon the
availability of funds. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: U.S. citizenship. MS/MA
degree in anthropology or archaeology and at least 5 years of
post-graduation work experience in cultural resources management and
historic preservation. DESIRABLE IN ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING
CRITERIA: Experience with Army cultural resources management programs
and historic preservation law. Experience evaluating historic
properties for National Register eligibility. Experience developing and
managing complex cultural resource databases (e.g., archaeological site,
accessions, cemeteries, land acquisition) for a large land-holding
agency. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated
competency in Geographic Information Systems (ArcView).
RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide recommendations for cultural resources
program requirement annual submissions. Oversee the management and
National Register evaluation of prehistoric and historic archeological
sites and historic buildings and districts. Coordinate installation
cultural resources program objectives, training, and construction
activities, and violations of the Native American Graves Protection and
Repatriation Act with affiliated Native American tribal groups and
organizations. Brief military and civilian personnel on CRM issues as
they pertain to training and construction activities on the
installation. Conduct the Cultural Resources session of the
Environmental Quality Officer training course. Coordinate with the
Kentucky and Tennessee State Historic Preservation Offices, Public
Affairs, Staff Judge Advocate, and other installation agencies, to
inform these offices of cultural resources compliance requirements.
Salary range $46,000 to $49,000. TO APPLY: Submit (1) letter of

of the qualifications; (2) resume; (3) one copy of transcripts from each
college attended and documentation of degree conferral; and (4) list of
names, addresses, and telephone numbers of four current or former

no later than 4:30 p.m., July 3, 2000. Incomplete applications cannot
