POSITION # CSU/CR/8/16/00

Position available for Historic Preservation
Specialist with the Center
for Ecological Management of Military Lands, Colorado
State University,
Fort Collins, Colorado, to provide support for
cultural resources
management (CRM) programs. Position contingent upon
the availability of
funds. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: U.S. citizenship.
MS/MA degree in
history, architecture, or closely related field, with
specialization in
historic preservation. At least 5 years of
post-graduate work
experience in cultural resources management and
historic preservation.
DESIRABLE IN ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
Demonstrated
knowledge of cultural resource management and historic
preservation
law. Experience working with CRM issues on military
installations.
Experience with established methods and techniques of
historical
research associated with cultural resource management
and historic
preservation, specifically as it relates to the
National Environmental
Policy Act (NEPA), the National Historic Preservation
Act (NHPA), the
Archaeological Resources Protection Act (ARPA), the
Native American
Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), the
American Indian
Religious Freedom Act, Executive Order 13007, and the
Department of
Defense Instruction 4715.3. Experience in historical
architecture and
Cold War property documentation and research,
including National
Register eligibility evaluations and nominations.
Experience with
archival development and management. Experience with
the DoD Legacy
Resource Management Program. Excellent written and
oral communication
skills. RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct NHPA, Section 106
and NEPA
consultation. Conduct and coordinate historic
research, including
historic context studies, HABS/HAER documentation, and
NRHP eligibility
assessments and nominations for historic buildings,
structures, and
districts (including Cold War properties) on U.S.
military installations
through the United States. Participate in the
development of Integrated
Cultural Resource Management Plans. Prepare CR
agreement documents and
coordinate with SHPOs, THPOs, and the ACHP on military
CR issues.
Participate in heritage interpretation and partnership
development
projects. May require extensive travel. Salary range
$46,000 to
