Archaeology Job in Yukon Territory

CONSERVATOR DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM COMPETITION NO: 00-SS15-01 REVIEW DATE:
JULY 14, 2000 SALARY: $50,938 TO $58,809 PER ANNUM Reporting to the Museums
Advisor, this position is responsible for providing conservation treatment
of Government, First Nation and Museum owned artifacts; providing
conservation advice/training to museums, First Nations, Yukon Government
agencies, and individuals; developing conservation, security, emergency
disaster plans, standards and strategies for government and museum owned
artifact collections; and other related duties. Candidates require a
graduate degree or diploma in a recognized conservation training program or
the equivalent, along with the ability to work in a museum or institution in
a conservation environment with extensive verifiable conservation experience
with the techniques, materials, and equipment used to treat mixed artifact
collections; and the ability to work independently and to work in field
situations with Archaeologists and Paleontologists. LICENSES AND
CERTIFICATES: Canadian Association of Professional Conservators
Certification would be an asset. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Valid Yukon Class
5 driver's license, Firearms Acquisition Certificate or ability to acquire
both within six months of hire.
