LSA’s San Luis Obispo Office is seeking a qualifiedindividual for a position as an Archaeologist/Senior Archaeologist. LSA is adiversified environmental, transportation, and community planning organization.The successful candidate will have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree inArchaeology, or Anthropology with an emphasis in Archaeology, and a minimum of 7-10years of experience in Cultural Resources Management in California. Theselected individual will be responsible for managing individual projects,including establishing and maintaining good working relationships with clients,agencies, and Native Americans; preparing scopes of work and budgets; directingand participating in field projects (monitoring, survey, and excavation); andpreparing reports. Projects will include archival research (including recordssearches), Native American consultation, survey, monitoring, excavation, andeligibility evaluation.
Desirable candidate qualifications include projectmanagement experience; a strong understanding of federal and state culturalresources regulations and legislation, particularly Section 106, NEPA, CEQA, AB52, SB 18, and the local regulatory structure of the Central Coast; excellentorganizational skills; and the ability to work independently or with minimaldirection, should field conditions or project schedules require. The ability todemonstrate qualification under the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications Standardsfor archeology is strongly preferred. Experience working with Caltrans and ontransportation project is also desirable.
