GIS technician – Austin, Texas

AmaTerraEnvironmental, Inc. seeks an entry-level GIS technician for a permanent, fulltime position in Austin, Texas.  The position require a B.A./B.S. degreein geography, anthropology, or a closely related field and coursework ortraining in the use of ESRI ArcGIS 10.x to create maps, perform basic spatialanalysis, and georeference historic maps and aerial photographs. Experience with QGIS, Global Mapper, Trimble Pathfinder Office, and ArcPadpreferred.  The  job consists of an estimated 80% GIS dutiesincluding preparing GPS units for fieldwork, processing and compiling gatheredfield data, creating a variety of general and thematic maps, archeologicalbackground and detailed site maps as well as historic, biological, and otherresource maps.  In addition, the job will include an estimated 20%technician-level archeological duties (survey, excavation, lab) to include limitedovernight travel.  Salary range for this position is $36-40,000 annually,depending on experience and skills sets.
