LSA’s San Luis Obispo office is seeking a qualifiedindividual for a position as an Archaeologist. The successful candidate willhave a Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, or Anthropology with an emphasis in Archaeology,and a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in Cultural Resources Management inCalifornia. The selected individual willbe responsible for managing individual projects, including establishing andmaintaining good working relationships with clients, agencies, and NativeAmericans; preparing scopes of work and budgets; directing and participating infield projects (monitoring, survey, and excavation); and preparing reports. Projectswill include archival research (including records searches), Native Americanconsultation, survey, monitoring, excavation, and eligibility evaluation.
Desirable candidate qualifications include projectmanagement experience; a strong understanding of federal and state culturalresources regulations and legislation, particularly Section 106, NEPA, CEQA, AB52, SB 18, and the local regulatory structure of the Central Coast; excellentorganizational skills; and the ability to work independently or with minimaldirection, should field conditions or project schedules require. The ability todemonstrate qualification under the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications Standardsfor archeology is strongly preferred.
