Pape-Dawson Engineers, Inc. seeks a Project
Archaeologist with Texas archaeology experience for their Austin Office. The
Project Archaeologist will conduct field and lab work under the supervis
ion of
a principal investigator and will be responsible for assisting staff in regulatory
compliance at local, state, and federal levels. Primary responsibilities will
include day-to-day management of field and/or lab duties, survey, hand
excavation, GPS data collection, artifact analysis, curation, and report
writing. Applicant must also be able to work independently and direct/mentor
field and lab technicians. This is a full-time position with benefits.
Minimum Qualifications:

BA/BS in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field

2 years of supervisory experience on archaeological projects
-
Experience leading field crews on surveys, testing, and/or data recovery projects
-
Experience writing technical reports
-
Basic knowledge of Section 106 and Texas Antiquities Code compliance
Preferred Qualifications:
-
6 months of artifact analysis/curation experience
-
Cemetery experience a plus, but not required
Physical Demands and Work Conditions:
-
Must be able to tolerate working in outdoor environments in various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions.

Must be able to walk and stand for prolonged time periods, dig with a variety of hand tools, bend, kneel, and stand.

Must be able to lift and carry objects such as buckets of dirt weighing up to 40-50 lbs.
An offer of employment will be contingent upon a satisfactory background check and post-offer, pre-employment drug screen.
