Garcia and Associate’s (GANDA’s) Auburn, California office is seeking qualified field archaeologists for several current and upcoming projects. Established in 1994, GANDA is a privately owned natural and cultural resources consulting firm that provides clients with a wide range of environmental services including cultural resource services in archaeology, architectural history, cultural resources management and preservation planning. GANDA is well known in California and Nevada for our expertise in environmental and cultural resources studies and is widely cited by agencies and non-governmental organizations for scientific rigor and responsiveness to stakeholder concerns. Current and upcoming projects include several short- to long-term survey, monitoring, and/or evaluation efforts for utilities, government agencies, and private-sector clients. The projects will occur in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the San Francisco Bay area, Southern California, and the Great Basin and Mojave deserts.
Minimum qualifications include:
A Bachelor’s Degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field.
A minimum of two years of experience that includes survey, test excavations, and monitoring.
Working knowledge of standard archaeological field and laboratory techniques.
Experience working as a field archaeologist in California’s Sierra Nevada, coastal areas, or desert regions.
40-hour HAZWOPR certification is a plus.
Field GIS experience (e.g., ArcPad, TerraSync, ArcCollector) is a plus.
Crew Chief or Field Director positions may be offered to individuals with additional experience and qualifications, including:
An advanced degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field.
Qualifications that meet or exceed the Secretary of Interior’s Standards for Prehistoric and Historic Archaeology.
Specialized experience within some or all of California’s subregions.
Specialized field or laboratory experience (e.g., lithic analysis, faunal analysis, archaeometry, geoarchaeology, remote sensing, Gold Rush-era historical archaeology, architectural history, etc.).
Strong writing and review skills are a plus.
