[ShovelBums.Org] Upcoming testing and data recovery in the Charleston, SC area
Chicora Foundation, Inc., a non-profit research organization in Columbia, SC
is looking for six field technicians for data recovery at several colonial
and antebellum plantation sites on Johns Island in Charleston County, SC.
It is imperative that candidates be able to work 8 hour days in a variety of
weather and field conditions. Stooping, bending, walking, carrying heavy
equipment, shoveling, kneeling, crouching, and lifting are essential
functions of this position.
Applicants must be energetic and eager, a cooperative team player,
enthusiastic and focused, quality oriented, and passionate about
archaeology. BA degree in archaeology or closely related field is preferred.
Previous field experience may be useful, especially if in Phase 2 or 3 work
(testing and data recovery). The client operates a drug free workplace.
The project is scheduled to begin January 9, 2017. Work will consist of
approximately 20 weeks of work and is not anticipated to extend longer. The
work schedule will consist of five (5) day work sessions, eight (8) hour
days, with two (2) days off in-between work sessions. It may, however, be
necessary to make-up lost rain days on weekends.
Per diem will be $52 per day for work days and for individuals who are not
local. Single occupancy lodging provided seven days a week for those not
local. Pay will be $16-17/hr.
The client prefers local individuals, but we question that the supply pool
will be that large. We encourage veterans with archaeological experience to
apply.
Interested candidates should send a resume via email with at least two
references to Michael Trinkley at chicora@earthlink.net
. Please provide a phone number where you can
be reached and times that you would be available for a brief phone
interview.
The position is open until January 3, 2017, or until filled, whichever is
sooner.
