[ShovelBums.Org] When the class bull(ies) win

Posted November 8, 2016 in Archaeology and CRM Jobs

Folks,

Other than occasionally promoting ShovelBums chachkies or suggesting you buy me a beer via ShovelBums I keep this ShovelBums mailing list very niche focused on finding you jobs, and when in season, field schools. I suspect that is why many of you still follow ShovelBums – it is low volume and easy to digest.

But on extremely rare occasions I will take advantage of this gateway I have to speak directly to ~18,000 of you plus another four or five thousand on interconnected social media channels and express my opinion. Trust me, this is not something I undertake lightly or without thought. I think you can well imagine the ramifications if I tried to turn this into “you signed up for a jobs list, but you also have to listen to my opinion on everything…”. Yeah – ShovelBums would cease to exist in a heartbeat. So for seventeen years I have always made sure to not take advantage of this unusual access to communication to one of the largest groups of archaeologists and anthropologists in the world. Therefore I do beg your indulgence in this uncommon act 😉 Maybe if you bought me more beer I would stay quiet 😉

If you are not inclined, don’t bother clicking on the link below, I won’t force feed it to you. But if you are a Hillary supporter and you have been beaten down by the unending stream of “bad” news and are feeling worn out, please consider reading this. This is not where we should be, and it is not how we should be feeling. It is time for us to stand up to class bull(ies) and be supportive of ourselves and what we believe in. I am sure there are much better articles like this out there, but I felt strongly enough about this I am sharing this with you directly.

Regardless of who you support, mainstream or alternative candidate, do get out in these waning hours and vote. As always, the League of women voters has great balanced information about almost every level of election in the country.

Now back to our regularly scheduled jobs announcements.

Best,

R. Joe
